HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2009-164 N.C.S. 10/05/2009Resolution No. 2009-164 N.C.S. of the City of Petaluma, California AUTHORIZING STAFF TO APPLY FOR THE 2009/2010 FEDERAL I-IIGHWAY SAFETY IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM FOR THE PETALUMA CITYWIDE PROTECTED LEFT TURN SIGNAL UPGRADE PROJECT WHEREAS, the Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) provides funds for any publicly-owned roadway or bicycle/pedestrian pathway or trail that corrects or improves the safety for its users; and, WHEREAS, the California State Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has been delegated the responsibility for the administration of the program; and, WHEREAS, Petaluma Citywide Protected Left Turn Signal Upgrade has been identified as a recommended safety project; and, WIIEREAS, if selected, the City of Petaluma will enter into an agreement with the State of California to complete the project; and, WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works, Street Maintenance Operating Budget has sufficient funds for the required ten percent match, and for all other costs not eligible for reimbursement. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Petaluma City Council hereby: 1. Authorizes staff to apply for the 2009/2010 Federal Highway Safety Improvement Program for the Petaluma Citywide Protected Left Turn Signal Upgrade Project. Under the power and authority conferred upon this Council by the Charter of said City.
