RESOLUTION OF THE PETALUMA CITY COUNCIL
SUPPORTING MAYORS' & COUNCILMEMBERS' ASSOCIATION
LETTER TO FEDERAL REPRESENTATIVES REGARDING INDIAN GAMING
WHEREAS, the Sonoma County Mayors, at their executive meeting on October 9, 2003,
agreed to agendize for consideration of the general membership a letter to federal legislators
regarding Indian gaming; and,
WHEREAS, while recognizing that American tribes have tribal sovereignty, there is also
recognized the need for cities and counties to protect their local physical and social environments
from the impact of large-scale development that often comes with Indian gaming.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Petaluma City Council supports the
Mayors' & Councilmembers' Association proposed letter to federal legislators regarding Indian
gammg.
Under the power and authority conferred upon this Council by the~Charter of said City.
