Petaluma Tomorrow@yahoogroups.com Subject:. Re: Feral Cat Ordinance Attachments: 2009 feral cat ordianee October 19, 2009 Dear Mayor and Council members, I Have concerns with ahe Feral Cat portion of the Cities Animal Ordinance. After reviewing the last council meeting discussion. and pub;(c comment on' this subject it was clear Gerald Moore,. President of the PWA, and PWA's members will have citizens arrested it they violate the ordinance. He rattled, off Federal laws, SEQUA and other pending law cases protecting birds and allowing citizens to have city employees arrested along with citizens if PWA feels they've violated -the law.. The city of Petaluma built a wastewater recycling facility not a Bird Sanctuary; this facility needs to be protected for public use. PWA has a list of other animals they wish to eradicate from the site.~Including, bull frogs, otters, red fox, and swans. Yikes, what's next raccoons, skunks, possums; deer, people, this group will stop when birds are the only species left on the site. I' urge Mayor Torliatt'and councilmember's to pull the ,Feral Cat portion. of the ordinance out, then vote on the remaining changes and' quit using. PWA as the only source for irradiating animals. The feral cat ordinance needs more discussion and consideration to protect the city from lawsuits fro'm'PWA and citizens being unfairly harassed or arrested. Sincerely, Janice Caller=Thompson, RDH Janice Ca'der-Thompson; RDH 732 Carlsbad Court Petaluma; CA 94954 707 762-7279
