G!hat do you see as tfae bdst solutions, both long and sf~cri #Praii, for econor7~ic, develapn~cnt in Peicrlurr~a?
V1/e need to encourage quality commercial. redevelopment with in the vacant areas of the city core
with projects that will enhance tax revenues. 1Ne also need to encourage a variety of retail in the
downtown areas.
Imcac~ine yourself as a visitor to Petc~lunaa. CNf~at do you see pf~ysiec~Ny, ecor^~on~ically, grid environmentally as
you wialk around town?
I see Petaluma as a beautiful historic riuerfront town, with a revitalized` downtown and a thriving
Theater District. At the same time. there is under utilized ;properties with in the core that have great
economic potential, specifically with-in the boundaries of the Central Petaluma Specific plan.
Tf~e General Plan (Plan) is 'the guiding document and vision for tfae City. Now would you interpret the policies
and goals articulated in the plara.2 Now flexible would you be .and would you fe:l corT~f.ortcabie nat approvir ~g
st~eaifie land. uses allowed iii the,_Picin? .
I would-interpret~the General R an as the vision for the City, and per council direction. I consider each
project on it's merit;. a,nd cartin~iall;y'strive to achieve the best design proposal for the Cify. 'If a project
conforms to both tile- General Plan and the IZO, it would be difficult for me to deny a project, fJUt.:.the
specific proposal would need ao conform to the quality of~design fhat I. would require.

he growth .r~~anagen~cnt system has been an E~lerncnt of thc~ dGVt->Igl:~r~rent process in Petcituma sinco 197?,
Gnci an Urban Growth Bounddry.was adopted in 1948 to control the physical growif~: of Petaluma. with these
two mdjot policies in mind, and given the pressure for ongoing growth durir~J the next decade or so, what two
or three policies .and: programs:- would you promote to profiect flee I~istoric, culiureal, crrici physical aspecfis a(
Petaluma?
I would maintain growth at a .dace consistent with the growth management system in place, and
promote policy such as fhe Fire sprinkler ordinance. for the historic downtown,
f-tow would you address currenf and fu#ure Plodding isstaes far Petalura7c~?
Minimize develgpmerit in the flood plain, and continue the zero net fill policy.
How world you~adcirest current and~futu~e traffic cUngcsfiori iri PFfalurnca.?
I would suppork the Raineroverpass, and the completion of the sa.uthern crossing as we wjll need
alternatives to~the, limited cross town access points. The problem. is also being addressed wifh the
modifications being. proposed Ito the East 1Nashington overpass project, and the work proposed at the
North Petaluma' Boulevard overpass.
