REPORT ON PEGGY SUE PRODUCTIONS FILMING ACTIVITY
1~ Mr. Sam Mercer, Location Manager for the "Peggy Sue Got Married"
film, addressed the Council, indicating that filming activity, .=will

Incident Response Plan. Fire Chief Leslie Lenz showed slides

CONSIDERATION OF SEWER .RATE INCREASES ,±t
Finance Director Juelle-.Ann Boyer addressed the _ Cty...~~Council„
indicating that since the City is a recipient of Federal and' ~ St"ate
Grants, .it is obliged to maintain revenues 'sufficient to.operate and
maintain the sewer and wastewater system.. Staff was directed. to' -meet
with the five industrial users for the system. It was Council '.consensus
to •tontinue the consideration of sewer rate increases. ',for , resderi~tial
and commercial users until pending a public hearing at the September
3, 1985, Council meeting. , .,: ;.:..,
PLANS AND .SPECIFICATIONS FOR RE-SU,RFACING•. D STREET.- &
. WESTERN AVENUE - ~ r~~ct!
Director of Public Works/city Engineer, Tom Hargis,:indicated that
since this project is 86 o federally funded and the State of .California
(CalTrans) had. not completed its study of the plans and specifications
for the re-surfacing project of D Street and Western Avenuei-t -would
.not. be~ possible .for .the Council to ~ authorize approval and .soT~ictation
for bids at this meeting . Inasmuch as the fall. season :is 'so. ,near, he
recommended the project be held in abeyance until the spririg~~'of 1:9.86.

BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL RECREATION PROGRAM _.
Director of -Parks and ,Recreation, Jim Raymond, presented .a status
report to the Council on subject of "Before and After-:. , S'clool
Recreation Programs" . He indicated the Recreation Department' staff
had completed a survey, as well as the Old Adobe School 'Dis;t'rict,. and
it was recommended that the City not undertake such a program.

Before/After School Recreation contd.
Insurance coverage for child care programs .is a problem, as well as
facilities at this time. The City will continue to work with the Old
Adobe School District and others in the community to discuss child
care needs of the community, and offer alternative programs to parents
and youngsters during vacation times . Lynn Woolsey indicated the Old
Adobe School District should be encouraged to proceed with such a
program.
a.,,City .Manager John Scharer reported that on August 21st, two public
hearings will be held that are of community interest; i.e. , one at the
Veterans Memorial Building on the Sonoma County General Plan; and
another at the Board of Education regarding the closing of the
overpass structure adjacent to Kenilworth Junior High School.
.~;i :' •~Mayor Mattei indicated that 73 applications for General Plan
,!r, ~~°.~Sub-Committees had been received and encouraged any one interested
to submit an application. He stated that the Council would make its
- appointments to the sub-committees at an afternoon meeting on
September 3, 1985.
