KELLER STREET GARAGE CONSTRUCTION
PARKTNG AND CIRCULATION
.Program Administrator William Liebel addressed the need to. alter traffic
,patterns during the construction of the parking garage:
(1) to make Keller Street one-way southbound from Washington to
Western Avenue (the construction fencing is placed in the middle of
' what would be the northbound lane of Keller Street) ;
(-2) to convert the curb parking on the easterly side of the block
between Washington Street and the beginning of the construction site
_ _ _to diagonal parking, thus adding ten spaces to the existing twelve
along this area;
(3) to remove the parking meters and posts to avoid confusion related
to the new parking layout;
(4) to relocate the existing crosswalk in front of 5wenson's Ice Cream
. store to the northerly line of the construction fence on Keller Street;
(5) to retain two-way traffic on Western Avenue, but to remove
. 'parking between Telephone Alley and Keller Street on the southerly
side of Western Avenue in front of the Crocker Bank (the construction
fencing begins at Telephone Alley, juts into the westerly lane of
Western Avenue and runs along aline parallel to the sidewalk to meet
the Keller Street construction fence line) ;
(6) to create a four-way stop intersection at Western Avenue and
Keller Street; and
(7) to put an emphasis on the traffic signing for vehicles exiting the
Food City parking lot onto Keller Street to turn in a southbound
direction only.
'There was discussion of the potential requirement to move the construction
trailers from the job site to a location on Keller Street adjacent to the
Crocker, Baink .
