Closed Session The City Council recessed to a closed session to discuss the acquisition of property : (1) old Sorensen funeral parlor from Messrs. Pope, Hine, and Galiotzi, (2) two parcels for expansion of the A Street parking lot from Jeff Harriman and Larry Lordeaux. Minutes The January 21 and 28 minutes were approved. Z-STREET FILMING The applicant requested this be^ removed from the agenda and rescheduled for March 4. KINDERCARE There being no objection voiced, the discussion of "Kindercare Drop-In Child Care Center and its .need to find a suitable space which will accommodate the growth of the business to prevent going out of business" was added to the agenda. Joyce Levine, owner/director, described the rapid growth of the drop-in child care center business and the resultant need to find larger quarters. She estimated that ~ 10,000 square feet (at a rental less than $1.00 per square foot) would accommodate them for some time to come. The owner said she would continue the business for another month if it appeared that "something could be worked out" to find larger quarters . PILOTS' ASSOCIATION FAIR After a ,presentation from staff liaison to the Airport Committee, Bill Liebel, yit was Moved/Seconded-Davis/B`alshaw to approve the request of the Petaluma Area: Pilots' Association to hold Aviation Education Day in celebration of Women in Aviation on March 9, 1985. POLICE FACILITY City Manager John Scharer told the Council that the City received a 7-page proposal from the owners of old Sorensen's funeral parlor earlier this date and that no analysis has been made of the details of the proposal. 172 ~~;~'E 8 1 9 1985 POLICE FACILITY contd. The City Manager asked for Council to grant authority to pursue a new police facility, to place a lid on the budget at' $2 Million, to continue to gather information regarding the "Sorensen" site, and to look at constructing a new facility at a site not to be determined at this time. There was along discussion about funding sources. It was Council consensus to proceed as the City Manager had requested. It was estimated the report will be completed within sixty days . Reso. 85-53 NCS approving the tentative map for Casa del Oro III, IV, V, VI. The City Council discussed the need for participation in the cost for traffic signal. The City Council also discussed the placement of turf and irrigation in the common area and the need for a funding mechanism to pay for maintenance. An assessment district was suggested.
