APPOINTING TERRY I{OSEWIC
TO THE HISTORIC AND CULTURAL PRESERVATION COMMITTEE
WHEREAS, Petaluma Municipal Code Section 2.30.010 provides for the creation of a
Historical and Cultural Preservation Committee, with composition and membership to be
established by resolution of the City Council; and,
WHEREAS, Resolution 9015 N.C.S., adopted November 24, 1980, provides that the
Historical and Cultural Preservation Committee shall be composed of the members of the Site
Plan and Architectural Review Committee (SPARC) and the Official Honorary City Historian, as
appointed by the City Council, and two members from historical preservation organizations
appointed by the City Council; and,
WHEREAS, the Petaluma City Council, at its September 21, 2009 Regular Meeting,
adopted Ordinance 2344 N.C.S. amending Chapter 2.08 of the Petaluma Municipal Code
governing the Planning Commission and repealing Chapter 2.50 of the Petaluma Municipal
Code relating to SPARC to consolidate Planning Commission and site plan/architectural review
responsibilities in a single, reconstituted Planning Commission; and,
WHEREAS, Section 4 of Ordinance 2344 N.C.S. further provides that "references to the
Site Plan and Architectural Review Committee or SPARC. in Petaluma land-use related
ordinances, regulations and policies shall mean the Planning Commission"; and,
WHEREAS, a vacancy exists on the Historical and Cultural Preservation Committee for
one of the two seats occupied by members from historical preservation organizations; and,
WHEREAS, Petaluma Heritage Homes has nominated .John Terrell "Terry" Kosewic to
serve a one year term on the Historical and Cultural Preservation Committee as a representative
of Petaluma Heritage Homes.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Petaluma City Council appoints
Terry Kosewic to the Historical and Cultural Preservation Committee for a term beginning when
said appointee is seated at a meeting of the Historical and Cultural Preservation Committee
taking place on or after the effective date of Ordinance 2344 N.C.S and expiring June 30, 2010,
or until his or her successor qualifies and is seated.
BE IT F'IJRTHER RESOLVED that this resolution shall take immediate effect but that
said appointment shall not be effective until the effective date of Ordinance 2344 N.C.S.
Under the power and authority conferred upon this Council by the Charter of said City.
