HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions 89-392 N.C.S. 12/11/1989Resolution No. 89-392 N.C.S. of the City of Petaluma, California RESOLUTION APPROVING PETALUMA TRANSIT MAINTENANCE AND OPERATION FACILITY SITE BE RELOCATED FROM CITY CORPORATION YARD TO A SITE DIRECTLY ADJACENT TO THE EXISTING SCHOOL DISTRICT BUS FACILITY ON KENILWORTH DR WHEREAS, Petaluma desires .to move out of its current leased facility into a more modern garage which would better serve its drivers and new bus fleet, thus saving over $15,000/yr. in lease expense; and WHEREAS, Petaluma had proposed to relocate the City's bus maintenance and operations facility to the City's corporation yard; and WHEREAS, on further evaluation of the city site, it was felt that its proximity to the sewage treatment plant would not be conducive to a transit maintenance/operations facility; and WHEREAS, it has been determined that a more suitable site, owned by the Petaluma School District, is available directly adjacent to the existing District bus facility on Kenilworth Drive; and WHEREAS, the ability to utilize .their existing new underground diesel gas storage tanks and bus washing machine would allow additional savings by not having to duplicate them at our site; and accessible to the routes and the public and would not cause the buses to transverse railroad lines and compete with large truck traffic at an unprotected approach on Lakeville St. (Hwy 116); and WHEREAS, this site is also more centrally located and more easily WHEREAS, a Joint Use Agreement with the School District has been approved ~ which is free of lease payments which will reduce expenses extensively over the 10 year term of the agreement; existing district bus facility. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council approves relocating the Petaluma Transit Maintenance and Operation Facility site from Clty Corporation Yard to a site directly adjacent to the Under the power and authority conferred upon this Council by the Charter of said City.
