HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions 89-236 N.C.S. 08/07/1989t FZesolution No. 89-235 N.C.s. .~ • of the City of Petaluma, California RESOLUTION TO AMEND THE JOB DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION RECREATION PROGRAM COORDINATOR WHEREAS the City Manager as the Personnel Officer of the City has submitted to the Council a revised job description for the classificatdon Recreation Program Coordinator in order to bring it intA conformity with the present work assignment, and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the job description of Recreation Program Coordinator is hereby revised tra establish the duties in accordance with the description in Exhibit "A" attached herein and made a part hereof. B E I T FURTHER RESOLVED that this action is take n pursuant to Personnel Code 2.04.020 and Personnel Rules and Regulatis~ns (Rule IV, Section 5) for classifications of the Personnel System, that the notice of this action has been properly posted and that the City Manager recommends this actin . NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Resolution No. 7054 N . C . S . , as amended, and Resoluton 87-189, is hereby amended to include establishment of the revised classification of Recreation Program Coorclinator, to remain assigned to Unit 4 (Professional) , with a salary range of $9.52 - x$11.58 per hour effective August 7, 1989. Under the power and authority conferred upon this Council by the Charter of said Cixy. EXNZBIT A RECREATION PROGRAM COORDINATOR DEFINITION Under general supervision , to assist in the organization , coordination , and direction of recreational and leisure time activities and duties; and to do related work as required. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Assists in planning, promoting and directing a variety of recreational, ]e_i.sure time and aquatic activities and events for various age and special interest groups; assists the Parks and Recreation DirectAr by discussing, evaluating, planning, and operating general, City-wide, special. and seasonal events and programs; trains, instructs, and supervises part time recreation and leisure time personnel; prepares reports, studies, evaluations, recommendations, and correspondence; prepares publicity releases and flyers; may speak before civic, school, and other interested groups; assists in co]lecting data and making analyses of programs and cost estimates in connection with .the department's budget; maintains inventory control and records of departmental supplies and materials; may attond City Council or other group meetings. EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS Education and Experience : Any combination equivalent to a B . S . in Recreation or related field and one year of full-time or three years part time experience in organizing and coordinating recreation and leisure time activities. In lieu of the above: any combination equivalent to graduation with an Associate of Arts Degree and five years part time experience in organizing and supervising recreation and ]Qasure time activities . Knowledge of: Principles, philosophy, and objectives of recreation and leisure time. programs; broad spectrum of recreational programs and actiivities for all ages; community recreational resources; safety and first-aid methods. Ability to: Coordinate the recreation, ]eisure time, and aquatic programs; gather, analyze, and evaluate facts and to prepare concise, informative and cooperative relationships with the public, other agencies, and employees . 8-7-89
