HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2004-151 N.C.S. 08/16/2004 resolution No.2004-151 N.C.S. of the City of Petaluma, California AWARDING THE CONTRACT FOR THE PETALUMA SENIOR CENTER EXPANSION PROJECT TO CARR'S CONSTRUCTION OF WINDSOR, AUTHORIZING THE USE OF PROPOSITION 40 PER CAPITA FUNDS TO AUGMENT THE PROJECT BUDGET, AUTHORIZING STAFF TO VALUE ENGINEER THE PROJECT TO BRING THE PROJECT SCOPE WITHIN BUDGETED AMOUNTS, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE CONSTRUCTION AGREEMENT WHEREAS, the City of Petaluma has bid the project to expand the Petaluma Senior Center; and, WHEREAS, three responsive bids were received, with Carr's Construction of Windsor, California the low bidder; and, WHEREAS, the low bid was at an amount that exceeded the project budget, and by value engineering the project with the low bidder, a project price can be established that meets with identified budget funds; and, WHEREAS, in order to have sufficient funds for the project, staff recommends that $154,000 from Proposition 40 Park Bonds be used to augment the project budget. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Petaluma City Council does hereby award the construction contract for the Petaluma Senior Center Expansion Project to Carr's Construction of Windsor for an amount of $714,395, authorizes staff to value engineer the project and through the change order process to reduce the scope and price of the project to $614,845, authorizes the use of $154,000 from Proposition 40 Park Bonds to be used for the project, and authorizes the City Manager to execute the construction contract, subject to review and approval of all contracts, insurance and bonds by the City Attorney. Under the power and authority conferred upon this Council by the Charter of said City.
