WHEREAS, the City of Petaluma is concerned that South Sonoma County
maybe overlooked when funding for Highway 101 projects are discussed and
allocated at the Federal level.
WHEREAS, improvements, including but not limited to the addition of
HOV lanes on Highway 101 between Petaluma and the Sonoma/Marin County
lines are vitally important to assure the smooth flow of traffic and commerce into
and from Sonoma County.
THEREFORE, be it resolved the Petaluma City Council requests
Congresswoman Boxer to monitor and protect the interest of the southern portion
of Sonoma County, particularly as to the funding of improvements to Highway 101
from Petaluma to the Marin County line. This would include the protection of any
money previously allocated which proposes either to purchase property or to fund
road improvements.
Under the power and authority conferred upon this Council by the Charter of said City.
