HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions 89-252 N.C.S. 08/10/1989c Resolution No. 89-252 NC.S. of the City of Petaluma, California ENDORSING THE 101 CORRIDOR PLAN AS MODIFIED WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed the 101 Corridor Plan recommended by the 101 Corridor Action Committee; and WHEREAS, the City has determined that the recommended plan with certain modifications is a balanced highway and transit program designed specifically to meet the transportation needs in the 101 corridor over the next 20 years. The plan will respond to the growing travel demand in the 101 corridor in an environmentally sound manner which is supportive of desired land use policies and highly responsive to public opinion throughout the North Bay; and WHEREAS, the plan consists of; A. Completing a continuous 52 mile HOV lane system on Highway 101 from Richardson Bay in Marin County to Windsor in Sonoma County by adding HOV lanes through central San Rafael and HOV lanes from Novato to Windsor; B . Purchasing the NWP right of way from Larkspur to Santa Rosa; C. Implementing high-speed catamaran ferry service to San Francisco from Larkspur and Sausalito; D. Increasing trans-bay bus service from southern Marin to San Francisco; E. Constructing, widening and extending the following parallel arterials and connector roads; 1. Extending Hearn Avenue to Farmers Lane in Santa Rosa; 2. Upgrading Stony Point Road between Santa Rosa and Petaluma; 3. Widening Fulton Road in Santa Rosa; 4. Closing the gap in Highway 12 freeway in Santa Rosa; 5. Widening Highway 116 from 101 to Fratas Road in Petaluma; ~E~s. N~ 89-a5a `~s. i 6. Extending Andersen Drive in San Rafael.; 7. Extending Lincoln Avenue to connect to Los Ranchitos Road in San Rafael; and, F. Leaving peak hour highway capacity on the Golden Gate Bridge and Doyle Drive unchanged; and, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council endorses the 101 Corridor Plan as modified. resolution .101 law 16 Under the Hower and authority conferred upon this Council by the Charter of said City.
