HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions 88-343 N.C.S. 10/03/1988.. _. ;. <.-=~, Resolution No. 8s-343 N C.S. of the City of Petaluma, California RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING THE MONTH OF OCTOBER CRIME PREVENTION MONTH WHEREAS, crime and the fear of crime adversely effect the well-being and quality of life of all citizens and institutions in our community; and WHEREAS, the financial loss, personal injury, and community deterioration resulting from crime are intolerable; and WHEREAS, citizen crime prevention action has proven to be a successful force in reducing crime; and WHEREAS, crime reduction through prevention benefits Petaluma in many ways - reduced pain and suffering of victims, decreased tax burden, improved civic spirit and business climate, and renewed sense of neighbor lines and community cohesion; and WHEREAS, the strenght and spirit of Petaluma are enhanced through Neighborhood Watch, child safety campaigns, and the involvement of young people, schools and businesses; and WHEREAS, crime prevention adds immeasurably to the health, safety and vigor of our community and should be encouraged and supported by government agencies, private firms, merchants, schools community clubs, and neighbors, and Res. N.C.S. ~;y BE IT RESOLVED, National Crime Prevention Month has been established by the Crime Prevention Coalition to encourage citizen involvement in prevention crime in America; and NOW, THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, I M. Patricia Hilligoss Mayor, of the City of Petaluma do hereby proclaim the month of October 1.988, as Crime Prevention Month and urge all citizens, government agencies, public and private institutions, and businesses to commemorate it appropriately and to participate more actively in crime prevention efforts. Under the power and authority conferred upon this Council by the Charter of said City.
