HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions 88-304 N.C.S. 09/06/1988;~ l' .. ~. ~~SOIUtI®]'~ N~. 88-304 N,i~,~, MJA:cw 9-6-88 of the City of Petaluma, California RESOLUTION TO AMEND THE JOB DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION BUILDING INSPECTOR WHEREAS the City Manager as the Personnel Officer of the City has submitted to the Council a revised job description for the classification Building Inspector in order to bring it into conformity with the present work assignment, and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the job description of Building Inspector is hereby revised to establish the duties in accordance with the description in Exhibit "A" attached hereto and made a part hereof. B E I T FURTHER RESOLVED that this action is taken pursuant to Personnel Code 2.04.020 and Personnel Rules and Regu]ations (Rule IV, Section 5) for classificatis~ns of the Personnel System, that the notice of this action has been properly posted and that the City Manager recommends this action. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Resolution No. 7054 N . C . S . , as amended, and Resolution 87-189, is hereby amended to include establishment of the revised classification of Building Inspector, to remain assigned to Unit 3 (Technical) , effective September 6, 1988. Under the power and authority conferred upon this Council by the Charter of said City. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES': Inspects all construction projects at various stages of completion for compliance with all pertinent:. Codes, Regulations:, and Ordinances. Issues Building, Permits,. answers questions regardi~mg building .regulations at the public counter and on the telephone,. Produces clear-, precise correction notices pursuant to job site. field inspections. Interacts with architects, engineers, developers and homeowners on matters pertaining to Codes and Regulations. Receives and investigates violations of Zoning Laws, complaints on hea'hth and. safety hazards. .Reviews and maintains current inspection. files. Check: for permits and non-compliance for all alterations, major- repairs, and additions to buildings. Checks grading at construction sites for com,plan¢e with regulations. Reviews building plans prior to plan checking and plan checks residential buildings as required. Performs related work as required. EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS-: Education and Experence: Experience and/or education that would provide the required knowledge- and. abilities to perform the above duties,. including: Two years experience with a Municipal or State ..Agency as a Building Inspector . Five years of expe"rience in ~ the building t-rages or an ICBO Certification as a .Building Inspector may be substituted for up to, one year of Boil"ding Inspection. experience. Graduation from High School or equivalent, supplemented by courses in construction and architecture. Knowledge and. Abilities: Knowledge of `buildin;g construction principles andpractices'., including fami'lar.ity with carpentry, plumbing.,. electrical anal .mechani'cal trades . Uniform Building Code., Uniform Plumbing and Mechanical: Code, National Electrical Code, State Energy and Handicapped A_cces Standards, Local Codes and Ordinances. Ability to interpret and explain Codes,. Regulations and Qrdinances. ~?etect through inspection, deviations from plans, Codes, Regulations and Ordinances. Read and understand building constructon plan , specifications and ,details . Organize daily workload., keep records and prepare. reports of iri_sp'ecton.
