A NEW POSITION CLASSIFICATION OF FACILITIES MAINTENANCE WORKER AND DESIGNATING IT TO UNIT 2, (MAINTENANCE) BE IT RESOLVED that the Classification Plan and Compensation Plan as originally adopted pursuant to Resolution No. 6118 N . C . S . , as amended, and the classification titles and specifications as adopted by Resolution No. 7054 N . C . S . , are hereby amended by establishing a classification of Facilities Maintenance Worker, (as attached hereto and marked Exhibit "A" and made a part hereof) . BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this action is taken pursuant too Personnel Code 2.04.020 and Personnel Rules and Regulations (Rule IV, Section 5) for classifications included in the Competitive Service of the Personnel System, that the notice of this action has been properly posted and that the City Manager recommends this action. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Resolution No. 7054 N . C . S . , as amended, is hereby amended to include establishment of the classification of Facilities Maintenance Worker and assigning this classi-fication to Unit 2 (Maintenance) , effective January 1, 1989, at a salary range of $11.20 - $13.45 per hour. Under the power and authority conferred upon this Council by the Charter of said City. FACILITIES MAINTENANCE WORKER DefirrLition Under supervision of the Parks and Building Superintendent, ]mad and participate in the construction, .maintenance, and repair of City facilities; and do related work as required. Example of Duties Performs a wide variety of duties relating tp the' installation, construction, operation, maintenance and repair of buildings, .facilities, mechanical equipment and other property of a ~upilar nature; may be required to perform carpentry, plumbing, -minor electrical work., painting, cement work, .masonry, and operation of City .vehicles; involved in purchase of supplies and equipment; maintains scheduling maintenance for fire extinguishers; repairs and maintains door .lock systems; repairs. all buildings within the city based on safety inspections; assists in report writing; moves furniture; and performs other duties as required. , Employment Standards Education and Experience Any combination equivalent of High School and three years of experience in the maintenance and repair of building facilities.. The position requires that the employee be qualified in electrical, plumbing- or carpentry and reasonably competent in performing the other crafts. Knowledge and Abilities Knowledge of repair and maintenance of electrical systems, plumbing systems, and carpentry. The ability try read blueprints, installation and maintenance instructiions; .prepare purchase requisitions; schedule repairs; deal courteously with -the public; and prepare written reports.
