HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2004-122 N.C.S. 07/12/2004 resolution No. 2004-122 N.C.S. of the City of Petaluma, California REQUESTING SUPPORT FOR THE REASSIGNMENT OF CAPITAL FUNDS TO FACILITATE THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF INTERCHANGE IMPROVEMENTS TO THE HIGHWAY 101 -EAST WASHINGTON STREET INTERCHANGE WHEREAS, the City Council of Petaluma has supported the CalTrans and SCTA proposal for the provision of auxiliary lanes in the vicinity of the Highway 101, East Washington Street Interchange; and, WHEREAS, City management staff met with SCTA and CalTrans staff to review tentative plans for interchange configuration improvements to the East Washington Street interchange, including provision of a northbound free-right onramp and modifications to the southbound on-ramp and northbound off-ramp to improve visibility and safety; and, WHEREAS, the City recognizes the need to increase lane capacity on East Washington Street to provide improved access to Highway 101; and, WHEREAS, the City recognizes that the existing lack of a northbound on-ramp and the tight curve alignment and close proximity of the northbound off-ramp to existing cross-traffic intersections greatly exacerbates local and regional serving traffic levels of service. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Petaluma hereby reiterates its support and requests that existing appropriated funds for the provision of auxiliary lanes be reassigned to the design and construction of the above referenced improvements to the East Washington Street interchange. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Petaluma, respectfully requests that CalTrans expeditiously pursue the appropriate environmental review, design and construction of said improvements. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Petaluma, that the City Manager is authorized to negotiate with CalTrans, SCTA, Regency Centers, and all affected parties, to secure funding and pursue completion of said improvements • Under the power and authority conferred upon this Council by the Charter of said City.
