Res®lution No.88-270 N.C.S.
of the City of Petaluma, California
RESOLUTION APPROVING THE USE POLICY FOR THE
PETALUMA COMMUNITY CENTER
WHEREAS, City Council directed staff to write a policy for the
number of times per year individuals and groups could use or rent the
Petaluma Community Center.
WHEREAS, staff developed a policy which was presented to the
Recreation, Music and Parks Commission at their meeting on July 12
when some additions and amendments were made.
WHEREAS, the Recreation, Music and Parks Commissiorti unanimously
accepted the recommendation that City Council approve the policy with
the additions and amendments as indicated.
NOW, THEREFORE, BET IT RESOLVED, that 'the City Council approve
the policy and direct staff to implement policy immediately following
approval.

i. Activities and`Programs sponsored by the Eity of Petaluma or co-
sponsored with another Agency: No limitation except the City may
not "bump>" a group '.with a pre-existing rental except in
except°iona.l c°ases.as approved by the Director, tfie City Manager,
or the' Gity Counc~l'and for disaster emergency purposes only. Ln
any ease., if an indivi~du'al or .group, loses the previously approved
rental, theParks and 'Recreation staff will make every effort to
relocate. the function and refund all fees associated with the
event.

Groups may rent i'n accordance with their regular meeting schedule

special event rentalsi; however, the special events may. involve
additional deposits and rental fees as;~de,:termined by the area used
and the nature of tfie,:event. These groups may reserve up to one
year in advance depending on space avai:~lable beginniing with July
of each year . Tt3'i's wi l l allow a, res.~ident non-p.rbf i t organization
the ability to: 'mesa.. on a regular bas;•is a=t the Center and allow
continuous revenue generat-ion as we,ll~as serving the community.

per' year -for each non=profit reside"nt organization to allow all
commun'i-ty groups the opportunity for access to the .Center.
4.. Private residents: Limited to a maximum of three rentals 'per year

T. If 30 days prior to an event, a room is ava,il.abl,e, the Director
'may waive taie ;limits of the above mentioned facility use for any
of the classifications described above.,:..
9. This entire policy w~i;l.l be reviewed by the Commission at their
meeting in January';; however, groups renting the facility on a
regular, continuous basis may rent fr-om September 1, 1969 through
February 28, 1'999. These groups will be notified after the
January Commission meeting if they may reserve on a continuous
basis for the rest of th,e year (March through August).
