HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions 88-194 N.C.S. 07/05/1988Resolution No. 88-194 N C.S. of the City of Petaluma, California RESOLUTION TO AMEND THE JOB DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION ELECTRICAL/MECHANICAL MAINTENANCE WORKER WHEREAS the City Manager as the Personnel Officer of the City has submitted to the Council a revised job description for the classificatir~n E]~ctrical/Mechanical Maintenance Worker in order to bring it into conformity with the present work assignment, and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the job description of Electrical/Mechanical Maintenance Worker is hereby revised to establish the duties in accordance with the description in Exhibit "A" attached hereto and made a part hereof. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this action is taken pursuant to Personnel Code 2.04.020 and Personnel Rules and Regulations (Rule IV, Seci~on 5) for classifications of the Personnel System, that the notice of this action has been properly posted and that the City Manager recommends this actson. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Resolution No. 7054 N . C . S . , as amended, and Resolution 87-189, is hereby amended to include establishment of the revised classification of Electrical/Mechanical Maintenance Worker, to remain assigned tD Unit 2 (Maintenance) , effective July 1, 1988. Under the power and authority conferred upon this Council by the Charter of said City. N.C.S E~:a'LBYT A ELECTRICAL/MECHANICAL MAINTENANCE WORKER Definition Under general supervision, to do skilled work in the repair, alteration, constructifln, installation and maintenance of electrical systems and mechanical equipment, including traffic signals and try do related work as required . Examples of Duties Installs, services, repairs and maintains .lighting, power, street lighting, pumps and traffic control systems; makes new installations, adds to existing installations :and repairs electrical systems in City buildings and fac:i]ities; tests, locates, and. repairs trouble in electrical systems and equipment; lubricates, cleans, adjusts, and makes repairs to mechanical equipment; repairs and replaces defective- ;parts in pumps, motors, generators, switches and other fixtures and' appliances. Duties may include participation in installation, operation and , ,maintenance of a computerized traffic signal system; installs and 'maintains traffic control devices such as amp]ifiers, beacons, cables, detector -"loops; checks intersections for proper signal operation and repair needs :and performs preventative maintenance; assists in installation, maintenance and repair of street lighting systems, including low and high voltagehookups. Able to maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used. Employment Standards Education and Experience: 'Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school and two years .of responsible experience in electrical and mechanical maintenance. work . Knowledges and Abilities.:. Knowledge of the tools, materials and. practices of the electrical and mechanical trades; knowledge of the installation and maintenance of electrical apparatus and equipment; knowledge of National electrical codes; ability to demonstrate skill in performing e]QCtrical and mechanical installation and repair work; ability try work from blueprints, sketches, plans and specifications; ability to follow oral and written directions. Ability to learn programming techniques; ability ~ interpret diagrams. Must be able to perform work requiring moderate to heavy physical' labor; possession of a valid Class 3 California Driver's License. Ability to perform work. at heights and in emergency and hazardous situations . 6-88
