HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions 88-151 N.C.S. 05/16/1988 ~es~lutlon No. 88-151 N.C.S. of the City of Petaluma, California A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING TEiE CHILD CARF_ COMMITTEE WHEREAS, the City Council as indicated a need for a City Child Care Committee to advise the Recreation, Music and Parks Commission and City Council on the concerns of child care in Petaluma; iJHF_-REAS, the Committee shall be directly responsible to the Commission and have as its responsibilities and duties to advise 'the Cr~mmission and City Council, recommend policies and act as a cent:r~~l informational body on child care concerns in Petaluma. W!-IEREAS, the Committee shall be made up of eleven (11> members with one (1) individual representing the following: Petaluma School District; Old Adobe School District; Child Care Center Director; In-home Child Care Provider licensed for less th:3n 6 children; Iri-home Child Care Provider licensed for 7-12 r_hi.ldren; Day Care Center Director; Major Petaluma Employer; Petaluma Boys and Girls Club; Recreation, Music and Parks Commission; Petaluma Family and Child Care Task Force; one (1) Member-at-Large. The Committee shall be assisted by members of City staff from the Parks and Recreation, Police and Planning Departments as appropriate. WHEREAS, the term of appointment shall be for two (2) years with a maximum of two (2.) consecutive terms. One half of the appointments shall be made each year. The first year Res. No. ....~.-~~....... N.C.S. (~ of the Committee, one half of the appointments shall be for one (1) year in order to establish the continuity. WHEREAS, the Committee shall: (a) meet in regular session not less than once a month every 30 days at a time and place selected by vote of its members; (b) select by vote of its members a chairperson and vice chairperson; (c) maintain a written record of all meetings - a copy of which shall be placed in a permanent record with the Parks and Recreation Department; (d) automatically remove any member absent for three (3) consecutive meetings, except in case of illness or some other unavoidable cause. Vacancy caused by such removal shall be filled by new appointment. WHEREAS, the Committee may adopt such rules and regulations as it shall determine for the holding and conducting of its meetings in the performance of its functions and responsibilities. The Committee shall not employ any persons or incur expenses or obligations against the City except as expressly authorized by the City Council by appropriation or resolution pursuant to acid in accordance with budgets adopted by City Council. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the Child Care Committee in and for the City of Petaluma is created. Under the power and authority conferred upon this Council by the Charter of said City.
