RECOMMENDING .APPROVAL. OF.. PROP..OSED

STATE TRAAT$PORTATION IMPROVEMEItTT~ PROGRAM
(STIP) FOR 1988-93
WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed the draft project
list to be presented to the Sonoma Cou..n=ty'Board of Super-
visors in 1988 and proposed to be included in the State
Transportation Improvement Plan/Proposed Projects; and,
WHEREAS, the State Legislature has adopted legislation
which requires the adoption by Metropolitan Transportation
Commission (MTC} of a regional transportation program; and,
WHEREAS, the staff of MTC has recommended that the projects
selected for inclusion into theTransportation Improvement
Program (TIP) for Federal Aid Primary (FAP), Federal Aid
Interstate (FAL), or State only funds be approved by the
County Board of Supervisors and the project supported (politi-
cally and :financially) by the community; and,
WHEREAS, the County-wide Transportation Advisory Committee
held County-wide Transportation Priorities Technical meetings
in March and April 19-88. Invited participants included
Public Works Staff from each of the cities and County,
Paratransit Coordinating Council transit operators, Caltrans and
MTC staff .
NOW, THEREFORE,~BR IT RESOLVED that the City of Petaluma
requests that the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors approve.
a resolution recommending the list o.f major non-interstate
projects in Sonoma County for inclusion in the preliminary
State Transportation Improvement Program, 1988-93.

Priority 1 - Route 101
Widen Route 101 to six lanes from Route 116 North to
Route 101's intersection with River Road, including
making necessary modifications to all existing inter-
changes, and adding new interchanges at Rainier Ave. and
Bellvue Avenue. Additionally, north of River Road,
modify the Arata Lane (Windsor) and Mill Street (Healds-
burg) interchanges.
Priority 2 - Route 12
Improve Route 12 between Sebastopol and Sonoma by:
a. Widening it to 4 lanes from Llano Road to Fulton
Road;
b. Constructing interchanges at Fulton Road, Stony
Point Road, and Farmers Lane;
c. Widening it to 4 lanes from Melita Road (Lawsons
Corner) to Pythian Road;
d. Widening it to 40 feet with left-turn lanes from
Pythian Road to Agua Caliente Road;
e. Widening it to 3 lanes from Agua Caliente Road
to Boyes Boulevard; and,
f. Widening it to 5 lanes from West Thomson Avenue
to Fifth Street West, Sonoma.
Priority 3 - Route 116
Improve Route 116 from Petaluma to Sebastopol by:
a. Widening it to 4 lanes from Frates Road to Route 101;
b. Widening it to 4 lanes from Route 101 to Stony
Point Road; and,
c. Constructing a north-south bypass around the City
of Sebastopol.
Priority 4 - Route 101
Upgrade Route 101 from the Marin County line to Route
116 to a 6 lane freeway statu s including H.O.V. lanes.
Priority 5 - Route 1
Construct a new Route 1 bypass around the town of
Bodega Bay.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby
directed to send a certified copy of this resolution to
the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors.
