RESOLUTION TO AMEND THE JOB DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION
ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER
WHEREAS the City Manager as the Personnel 0 ffi.cer of the
City has submitted to the Council a revised job description for the
classification Assistant City Manager in order to bring it into conformity
with the present work assignment, and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the job
description of Assistant City Manager is hereby revised to establish the
duties in accordance with the description in Exhibit "A" attached hereto and
made a part hereof.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this action is taken
pursuant to Personnel Code 2.04.020 and Personnel Rules and Regulations
(Rule TV, Section 5) for classifications of the Personnel System, that the
notice of this action has been properly posted and that the City Manager
recommends this action.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Resolution No.
7054 N . C . S . , as amended, and Resolution No. 87-189, is hereby amended to
include establishment of the revised classification of Assistant City
Manager, effective February 1, 1988, with a salary range of $3,785 - $4,885
per month .
Under the power and authority conferred upon this Council by the Charter of said City.

Subject ~ policy direct~n by the City .Manager, to provide highly
responsible staff assistance to the City Manager, including internal control
and coordination of various existing City Departments, and analysis of
organization,, methods, budget and administration; and to serve as Acting
City Manager as assigned.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Duties may include. brit are not limited to:
Direct and indirect supervision of eniDr management (e.g. Police, Fire.,
Planning .Departments) , professional, technical, -and, clerical positions.; make
recommendations on appointment to various staff positions; assist and'
particdpate in the development and implementation of 1Dng and short term
goals, objectives, po]oies, and priorities,; conduct studies, surveys, and
collect information on difficult operational and adm~*+;Gt-rative problems;
analyze findings and prepare reports of practical solutions. for review by
the City Manager and City Council; represent the City before the City
Council, community,. outside agencies, and at' professional meetings as
reg:uired-; coordinate and -participate: in 'the preparation. of the annual City
operatiDn .and capital improvement budgets and in budget control activities;
coordinate grant-funding programs and direct the City's grant application
.and administration effort; respond to citizen complaints and. requests fc~r
information; supervise,. train, andevaluate staff; perform related duties as
.assigned .
