HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions 88-004 N.C.S. 01/04/1988.. - ~=~ Resolution No. 88-4 N.C.S. of the City of Petaluma, California RESOLUTION CONCURRING WITH CALIFORNIA TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION RELINQUISHMENT OF LAREVILLE HIGHWAY (STATE ROUTE 116) WHEREAS, The California Transportation Commission (CTC) will; be considering relinquishing to Sonoma County the section of State Route 116 between Frates Road and Old Adobe Road (Lakeville Highway and Stage Gulch Road); and, WHEREAS, State of California Department of Transportation (CALTRANS) would assume jurisdiction of the Frates Road and Old Adobe Road alignment; and, WHEREAS, a portion of Frates Road is within the City limits of Petaluma; and, Tn~HEREAS, concurrence of this relinquishment by the City of Petaluma is requested by the Department of Transportation; and, WHEREAS, if Frates Road becomes State Route 116, then CALTRANS would set the geometric and structural standards for improvements and City-proposed development would then be required to process through CALTRANS and meet their requirements for future widening; and, WHEREAS, the City has established future street geometries for Frates Road, a portion of which have been constructed or are proposed for construction; and, WHEREAS, the City is proposing the installation of a traffic signal at Lakeville Highway and Frates Road as part of the proposed Lakeville Highway Assessment District. NOW, THEREFORE, BE ~T RESOLVED that the City Council approves this resolution concurring with California Transportation Commission relinquishment of Lakeville Highway (State Route 116) subject to: 1. Giving the City of Petaluma jurisdiction for geometries and structural construction over that portion within the City limits; and, 2. Agreeing to participate in the costs of the proposed traffic signal installation at Lakeville Highway and Frates Road; and, 3. Designating the City of Petaluma as the agency to establish radar enforceable speed zones on State Route 116 within the City-limits. Under the power and authority conferred upon this Council by the Charter of said City.
