Subject: Regency Project /City Conditions
By now you must have read about some stirring in the community - I think folks have awoke to the facts that conditions in
Petaluma are poor, not improving; and we're in need of revenue diversification and stabilization. One possible
improvement (not the END, by all means, but it helps) and one that's caught public attention is the Regency project.
The Regency project has been in the works for 5-6 years. It could bring a Target and several smaller stores, restaurants.
It could easily go a long way to help with City finances (and prevent further loss of police, fire, street maintenance, parks
maintenance !), prevent driving out of town (less pollution and traffic!) and clean up a serious blight adjacent the freeway.
I am writing to you to express my support for the Regency/East Washington Place development. As a resident of
Petaluma I am looking forward to a shopping center in our own community that will bring competitive prices and
merchandise that is not normally available in our city. I am tired of seeing our tax dollars going to other communities other
than our own retail tax base! We have. already lost enough revenue by losing some of our automobile mall. I thoroughly
support the new center and feel it will be beneficial to all of Petaluma .
It's nice to have a strategic economic plan in the works, but here's one chance to put something into concrete -literally
