RESOLUTION AMENDING CLASSIFICATION PLAN TO ESTABLISH
NEW POSITION CLASSIFICATION OF
POLICE RECORDS SUPERVISOR
BE IT RESOLVED that the Classification Plan and
Compensation Plan as originally adopted, pursuant to Resolution No. 6118
N . C . S . , as amended , and the classification titles and specaficatiDns as
adopted by Resolution No. 7054 N . C . S . , are hereby amended by resolution
hereto and marked Exhibit "A" and made a part hereof.
B E I T FURTHER RESOLVED that this ac,~t-iDn is taken
pursuant to Personnel Code 2.04.020 and Personnel Rules and Regulations
(RulB IV, Section 5) for classifications included in the Competitive Service
of the Personnel System, that the notice of this action has been properly
posted and that the City Manager recommends this action .
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Resolution No.
7054 N . C . S . , as amended, is hereby amended to include estab]ishment of
the classification of Police Records Supervisor and assigning the
classification to Unit 9 (Mid-Management) _, effective December 7, 1987, at a
salary range of $1,563 - 1,901 per month.

POLICE. RECORDS SUPERVISOR
Definition
Under general direction of the Division Commander, the Records Supervisor
plans, supervises -and part~. cipates in the records activities of the Po]ice
Department; participates in training programs., trains and evaluates
subordinates; performs the duties of_ subordinate personnel, as required,
and. performs other duties as required.
Examples of Duties
Supervises the filing :system for the maintenance of all police records and
related documents; maintains statistical records and, prepares reports to
State and Federal agencies; supervises, trains and evaluates records
personnel; , prepares and analyzes statistical reports for the State, County
and City; monitors records security; schedules office equipment maintenance
inventories and orders supplies; prepares staff reports and
recommendations; acts as information source to public on police related
matters; represents and .supports the po]iries and procedures established by
the City Council, City Manager, Police Chief and' Division Commander;
performs other duties as required.
Employment Standards
Education and Experience: Any combination equivalent try graduation from
high school, .supplemented by college level courses in appropriate
disciplines; experience in performing the duties of a supervisor; a
combination of education and experience equivalent try the above.
Knowledges .and Abi]ties;: .Knowledge of State 'and -local laws relating tp
police activities; knowledge of the rules • of evidence and of court
procedures; ability to supervise a small staff; ability try maintain and revise
record system. and prepare required reports; ability to establish and
maintain effective working relationships with courts and law enforcement
