RESOLUTION AMENDING CLASSIFICATION PLAN TO ESTABLISH
NEW POSITION CLASSIFICATION OF
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS-ENGINEERING SERVICES
BE IT RESOLVED that the Classification Plan and
Compensation Plan as orig~nally adopted, pursuant to Resolution No. 6118
N. C. S., as amended, and the classificatir~n titles and specafi.catiflns as
adopted by Resolutinn No. 7054 N. C. S., are hereby amended by resoluti~n
hereto and marked Exhibit "A" and made a part hereof.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this action is taken
pursuant t~o Personnel Code 2.04.020 and Personnel Rules and Regulations
(Rule IV, Secti~n 5) for classifi~ations included in the Competitive Service
of the Personnel System, that the noi~e of this action . has been properly
posted and that the City Manager recommends this action.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Resolution No.
7054 N. C. S., as amended, is hereby amended ta include establishment of
the cla.ssifZCation of Assistant ~ Director of Public Works-Engineering
Services and assigning the classification to Unit 9 (Mid-Management) ,
effectsve July 1, 1987 .
Under the power and authority conferred upon this Council by the Charter of said City.

Qua7ificatiflns
Knowledge of: Principles and pract~ces of civil engineering; princi.ples and
practices of mapping, hydrology, hydrau]i~s, soils mechanics and water and
sewer; investigatic~n, design and construction of public works projects;
appli~able laws and regulatr~ry codes related t.n development and
construction of public works; l~gal, 5nancial and public relations problems
associat~d with a pub].i~ works department; recent develflpments, current
literature and sources of information regarding civil engineering; princ~.plss
of organi.zatifln, admi.ni.stratiDn, budget and personnel management.
Ability to: Make complex engineering calculations and tn prepare
engineering plans and specifications; supervise the preparation of.
engineering records and prepare comprehensive t~echnical reports;
communicate clearly and concisely, ora]ly and in writing; supervise, train
and evaluate professinnal and t~echni~al subordinates .

Experience _ and Educati~n: Any combinati~n equivalent t~ experience and

Li~ense or, _Cerb.ficaf~:_ Possession of a eertificate of registrati~n as a
professir~nal civil engineer in the State of C~lifornia.
