WHEREAS,. James M. Eaglin has served this City in the Fire Depart-
i
merit for nearly thirty-•seven years' and is retiring after commencing employment as
a full-time fireman on December 15, 1926 and served as a Captain of the Fire Depart-
ment from August, 1937 until January 1, 1951, He served as Assistant Chief from
January 1, 1951 until January 1, 1956 at which time he Was appointed Fire Chief

succeeding Chief D. J. Nielsen. I
WHEREAS; Chief Eaglin; has shown remarkable leadership in the
maintenance of a fine organization of loyal, efficient and= courageous firemen, with
the'result that the •City holds a high standing throughout the State of California for
its low fire losses during the past several years, Due to his alertness in maintaining
the 'fire equipment and facilities; as well as efficient personnel, the fire insurance
i
rate for this community has been held at a minimum cost because of its high rating
with the Board of Fire Underwriters.

WHEREAS, Mr. Eaglin's loyalty, efficiency and untiring efforts through-
out his period of service deserve_ s_.;great; commendation;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE;IT RESOLVED that this Council regretfully
I
accepts the resignation of James`M. 'Eaglin, effective June 30, 1963.
BE IT FURTHER-,RESOLVED that this City Council, on behalf of the
i
citizens of the City of Petaluma cxpre.:ses• its sincere appreciation and gratitude,for
Mr, .Eaglin's long, loyal and 'exc$ellent service to 'the City.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Council regrets the: necessity
of Mr, Eaglin's retirement•and expresses its every hope for a pleasurable retirement
and future success in whatever endeavor hem may take, up in, the future,
