HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2008-107 N.C.S. 06/16/2008Resolution No. 2008-107 N.C.S. of the City of Petaluma, California UPGRADING THE VACANT ASSOCIATE CIVIL ENGINEER POSITION TO SENIOR CIVIL ENGINEER IN THE DEPARTMENT OF WATER RESOURCES AND CONSERVATION WHEREAS, the Associate Civil Engineer position in the Department of Water Resources and Conservation was recently made vacant when the incumbent was offered and accepted a higher grade position with a special purpose water district in Southern California; and, WHEREAS, the essential duties, skills and demands of this position include preparing environmental assessments and studies, supervising the development of contract documents for capital improvement construction projects, managing construction contracts, procuring regulatory permits, conducting studies to assist in the preparation of capital improvements, supervising and directing condition assessments for the water and wastewater systems, super-vising and directing the updating and calibrating of various Water Department computer models used to manage the utility; and, WHEREAS, these duties and skills are at the Senior Civil Engineer level; and, WHEREAS, upgrading this position ~to the Senior Civil. Engineer level will support the Department of Water Resources and Conservation's. desire to maintain the City's utilities in proper working condition and meet the needs of our customers. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITX COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PETALUMA AS FOLLOWS: 1. The above recitals are true and correct and hereby declared to be findings of the City Council of the City of Petaluma. Resolution No. 2008-107 N.C.S. Page 1 2. The City Council approves upgrading the vacant Associate Civil Engineer position in the Department of Water Resources and Conservation to the Senior Civil Engineer level, and directs the Water Resources and Conservation Department to immediately recruit for this position and take actions necessary to fill this position with a talented and experienced candidate. 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately. 4. All portions of this Resolution are severable. Should any individual component of this Resolution be adjudged to be invalid and unenforceable by a body of competent jurisdiction, then the remaining Resolution portions shall be and continue iri full force and effect, except as to those Resolution portions that have been adjudged invalid. The City Council of the City of Petaluma hereby declares that it would have adopted this Resolution and each section, subsection, clause, sentence, phrase and other portion hereof, irrespective of the fact that one or more section subsection, clause sentence, phrase or other portion may be held invalid or unconstitutional. Under the power and authority conferred upon this Council by the Charter of said City.
