"Gans.; Councilman,. has submitted his resignation from his office as Councilman with the Ci-ty Clerk, effective April 4 , 196,6 ; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THIS COUNCIL finds as follows ; 1 . On June 11 , 19:631,, Herbert C. Gans was elected a member of the City Council of the City of Petaluma , and officially commenced serving as such on July 1 , 1963 , having been elected' 'as Councilman to serve until June 30 , 1967 . 2 . During his term of office, Mr.' Gans served on many Council com- mittees and on the Planning Commission with great distinction . He gave unstintingly of his tite :and',effort bringing to each duty and assignment a keen and analytical mind.. IIn every sense , the was a conscientious public servant dedicated to exercising his independent best judgment for the good of his City. 3 . Councilman Gans wa 4keenly aware of the problems of a growing city and approached all Council action with a deep responsibility fully recognizing the rights and duties of people and- hi's responsibility to the people , at the ;same timelbeing fully prepared to advance and{ exploit any action, even though °novel , designed to -advance , in his considered opinion , the fortunes and prestige of this City. 4 . Many major projects and fors iard-lookingl .accompl'ishments became fact during his tenure—in office, due in great part, to his diligent pursuit of the goal he: deemed highly desirable,. He took great justifiable pride in the fact that before he retired to amore leisurely life , the Golden Concourse became a reality, the Washington Street-Bodega Avenue realignment was started, 'Sewer Pant Improvement Bonds were authorized and a Master Sewer Plan was adopted , and a municipal swimming pool complex was underway . This listing is not complete and is but part of the great ' contributions made by "Herb Gans which will have a far-reaching effect on this City. 5 . The City Cound l will sorely MisstHerbert C . Cans and his great ability to analyze all problems and to reduce all matters to a clear and concise statement of fact.. The Council declares his resignation a serious loss . It will -miss. his able and superior judgment as well as his warm,; friendly and courteous manner openly expressed and manifested to the members. of this body and th'e Public. . • a_(-87 • BE∎ IT FURTHER. RESOLVED that the resignation of Herbert C. 'Gans, as Councilman be and the same is hereby regretfull'y accepted as of the 4th day of April, 1966 .
