' of the City of Petaluma, California
RECOMMENDING APPROVAL OF PROPOSED
STATE TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM FOR 1986-87
WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed the draft resolution
to be presented to the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors in
1986, relating to a project affecting the City of Petaluma
(widening of Lakeville Highway from Caulfield to the
southerly City Limits), and proposed to be included in the
State Transportation Improvement Plan/Proposed Projects;
and,
WHEREAS, the State Legislature has adopted legislation which
requires the adoption by Metropolitan Transportation
Commission (MTC) of a regional transportation program, and
WHEREAS, the staff of MTC has recommended that the projects
selected for inclusion in to the Transportation Improvement
Program (TIP) for Federal Aid Primary (FAP), Federal Aid
Interstate (FAI), or State only funds be approved by the
County Board of Supervisors and the project supported
(politically and financially) by the community, and
WHEREAS, the County-wide Transportation Advisory Committee
held County-wide Transportation Priorities Technical meeting
in November, 1985. Invited participants included Public
Works Staff from each of the cities and County, Paratransit
Coordinating Council, transit operators, CALTRANS and MTC
staff ,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors
be urged to continue to express its continued support for
the projects listed below that are in the current S.T.I.P.
or in progress as safety projects.
1. Route 101-Rainier Avenue Interchange in Petaluma
2. Route 116-Widening and improvement in Petaluma from
Route 101 to Frates Road
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby
directed to send a certified copy of this resolution to the
Sonoma County Board of Supervisors.
