IN THE AIVgOYJN'T OF $39,865.28 WI~E~tEAS, in October 2009 the Petaluma Police Department applied for a grant from PETCO Foundation to purchase an animal adoption/rescue custom trailer; and, WHEREAS, in January 2010 the Petaluma Police Department received a$35,000 grant from the PETCO Foundation to purchase an animal adoption/rescue custom trailer; and, WHEREAS, the Petaluma Police Department conducted a competitive bidding process in compliance with Petaluma Municipal Code section 4.04.080 by preparing, advertising and soliciting bids pursuant to an Invitation to Bid (ITB) for proposals to furnish the custom trailer; and, W~IEREAS, on March 3, 2010 the City Clerk opened the returned bids and identified Deerskin Mfg., Inc. as submitting the lowest responsive bid, in the amount of $39,865.28; and, WHEREAS, staff at the Petaluma Police Department conducted reference checks and determined that Deerskin Mfg. Inc. was a responsible bidder, with the ability to manufacture and deliver the trailer with specifications as proposed by Deerskin Mfg., Inc.; and, WHEREAS, the Petaluma Police Department will utilize funds from the Animal Services Division donation account in the amount of $4,865.28 to make up the difference between the grant award and the total cost of the trailer. NOW, 'I'I-~EREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED T~IAT 'I'HE C'IT~' COUNC'IL I~EREBY 1. Approves the purchase of one (1) 2010 18-foot enclosed custom adoption/rescue trailer from Deerskin Mfg., Inc. in the amount of $39,865.28, subject to the Resolution No. 2010-044 N.C.S. Page 1 conditions and specifications contained in the proposal of Deerskin Mfg., Inc. in response to the City's ITB, and authorizes the City Manager, or his designee, to execute any necessary documents to complete the purchase; and 2. Authorizes the inclusion of the necessary budget adjustment to appropriate the PETCO grant funds as part of the end of the year Budget Adjustment Ordinance.
