RESOLUTION NO. 2699 Ncs
RESOLUTION FINDING AND DETERMINING. THAT THE EXPENDITURE
OF $170, 000 OF 'MONEYS RAISED BY. THE SALE OF $220, 000
PRINCIPAL AMOUNT OF CITY OF PETALUI'IA MUNICIPAL IMPROVE-
MENT BONDS OF 1945 FOR THE PURPOSE FOR WHICH SAID BONDS
WERE VOTED IS IMPRACTICABLE..
WHEREAS, a specia1 municipal bond election was duly
called and held in the :City of Petaluma on June 12, 1945, at
which election the measures to issue bonds of said City in the
principal amount of $200,000 for a City Hall and administration
building and in the principal amount of $220,000 for the objects
and purposes hereinafter stated were Submitted to the voters of
said City and they issuance of bonds by said Citrf for said objects
and purposes was duly authorized; and
WHEREAS, bonds of the City of Petaluma, designated.

"City of Petaluma Municipal Improvement Bonds of 1945" in the
principal amount Of $420, 000 were thereafter duly issued and
sold of which $220, 000 principal amount were issued to pay the
cost of the acquisition, construction and completion of the
municipal improvement of said City set forth in the following

measure, to wit :
Shall the City of Petaluma incur a
bonded debt of two hundred twenty thousand
( $22 0,000, 00) dollars for the acquisition,
construction, and completion within the
City of Petaluma of an auditorium, :public
assembly and, convention hall :and. r'ecreation
building Containing rooms, halls, and offices,
together with all land, landscaping, improve-

!merit of grounds, and facilities , fixtures,
furniture, equipment, and property necessary
andtproper to provide a place and places for
meetings of, and activities engaged in, by
veterans, members of the armed services,
the national and state guards, youth groups,

and other -public groups and organizations

and to provide a place or places for holding.

dances, games, and similar social, educational,
and recreational entertainment and training?
and
WHEREAS, said auditorium, hall and recreation building
described in said measure was never and will not be constructed;
and
WHEREAS, tat, a special municipal bond election duly
called and held and consolidated with the State of California
Direct Primary Election on June 3, 1958, the following measure,
to wit :
MEASURE:, Shall the City of Petaluma expend out
(Recreation of the $220, 000 principal amount of
Center auditorium bond monies voted and
approved by 'electors of the City of
Petaluma by election of June 12 , 1945, the sum of
$50, 000 for the acquisition, construction and comple-
tion within the City of Petaluma in 'or about Kenil-
worth Park of a recreation building containing' rdoms,
halls and offices together with all landscaping,
improvement. of grounds and facilities:, fixtures ,
furniture, equipment and other things and property
necessary and proper to provide a place and place's
for meetings of activities engaged in by youth groups
and other' public' groups and organizations and to
provide a ,pla'ce and places for holding dances., games
and similar social, educational and recreational
• entertainment and training?
was approved by two-thirds of the voters voting on said measure
and $50,000 of the proceeds of sale of sa"id .$220,000 principal
amount of said City of Petaluma Municipal .Improvement Bonds of
• 1945 has been expended for the purpose specified in said
measure approved at said June 3, 1958, election; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to expend the
remaining $170,000 of said proceeds of sale of said $220, 000
principal amount Of 'said bonds plus $49,000 interest earned on
investment's of said $220,000 principal amount of said "bonds,
or a total of $219, 000,, in the respective amounts and for the
respective purposes hereinafter specified;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council
of the City of Petaluma., as follows :
Section. 1 . This City Council does hereby find and
determine that the expenditure of $170, 000' of the $220, 000
raised by the sale of the said $220, 000 principal amount of
City of Petaluma Municipal Improvement ends of 1945 is
impracticable and unwise and that the public interest requires
that said $170, 000 together with $49,000 interest earned on
' investment of said $220, 000 be expended Tor the respective
objects and purposes set forth in the following measures-, to
wit :
MEASURE [F`J,: Shall the City of Petaluma expend

of auditorium bonds authorized by the electors of
the City of Petaluma at the election held June 12,,-,

completion of the following municipal improvement; to.
wit : A municipal swimming pool and appurtenances.,
including pool, heating and filtering equipment,
dressing rooms,, land, 'site improvements , and other
works, property or structures necessary or convenient
for a municipal swimming pool for the City of Petaluma?
MEASURE ( a) : Shall the City of Petaluma expend
(Municipal: the sum of $40°,000 (being a portion
Museum) of the 'moneys' raised by the sale
of $220, 000 principal amount of
auditorium bonds a.uthoriz,ed by the electors of the City
of Petaluma at the election held June 12 , 1945, plus
$49,000 interest earned on investments of said moneys )
for the acquisition, construction and completion of
the following municipal improvement, to wit : A
municipal ,inuseuiir, including acquisition from, Petaluma
City School District of Phillip Sweed School ( including
both land and building) , which 4as 'been declared by
said District to be surplus property, construction of
improvements to said building, site improvements, and
other works and improvements necessary or convenient
to convert said land and building into a municipal
museum for the City of Petaluma?''
