A RESOLUTION CALLING AND PROVIDING, FOR A REGULAR MUNICIPAL
ELECTION TO BE HELD IN THE CITY OF PETALUMA, JUNE 13, 1961, FOR
THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING PUBLIC OFFICERS; DESIGNATING THE PRE-
CINCTS AND POLLING PLACES FOR SAID ELECTION; APPOINTING ELE-
CTION OFFICERS AND PROVIDING FOR NOTICE THEREOF.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUiNC1L OF THE CITY OF PETALUMA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1, That the regular municipal election in and for the City of Petaluma
shall be held Tuesday, June 13th, 1961, for the object and purpose of electing the follow-
ing public officers for said Ciiy of Petaluma as provided in its Charter, to-wit:
One (1) Mayor for a full term of four (4) years,
Three (3) Councilman for the full term of four (4) years.
Three (3) School Directors as members of the Board of Education.
Section 2, Said;regular municipal election hereby called shall be held and
conducted, and the votes thereat received and canvassed and the returns thereof made
and the results thereof ascertained and determined as provided in this resolution. Ex-
cept as herein provided, said election shall be held, and conducted in accordance with
the Charter of the City of Petaluma and the general election laws incorporated herein
and made a part hereof, The;provisions of Division XI; Part 2, Chapter 2, of the Elec-
tions Code governing election in Fifth and Sixth Class cities are hereby incorporated
herein and by reference made a part hereof, except as herein otherwise provided.
Section 3, All persons qualified to vote at municipal elections in said City
of Petaluma at said regular municipal election shall be qualified to vote for all of the
candidates and all of the officers hereinabove .set forth, and also upon any measure or
measures which may be submitted, at 'said regular municipal election, provided that no
person shall be entitled to vote,for any candidate for the office of School Director who
is not also'a qualified elector of the Petaluma School Districts. Any qualified elector of
the Petaluma School Districts who is not also a 'qualified elector in the City of Petaluma
shall be entitled to vote at said regular election only for candidates for the office of

School Director, and the°City-clerk is hereby authorized and directed to provide
appropriate ballots containingthe"names of the candidates,for School Directors for
use in territory outside the corporate limits of the City of. Petaluma, but which has
been annexed to Petaluma School Districts for school purposes only, and is within
the territorial limits of the Petaluma School Districts.
Section 4, The polls at the polling places hereinafter designated shall be
opened at 7:00 o'clock A., M. (CDST) of said day of election and shall be kept open con-
, tinuously thereafter until 7:00 o'clock P.M. (CDST) of said day of election, when the
polls shall be closed (except;as provided in Section 5734 of the Elections Code), and
the election officers shall thereupon proceed to canvass 'the ballots cast thereat.
Section 5. For the conduct of said regular municipal election the City of
Petaluma is hereby divided into twenty-five (25) municipal election precincts, each of
which shall consist of one precinct or a consolidation of more than one of the precincts,
at last theretofore established within said City by the Board of Supervisors of the County
of Sonoma for holding general State and County elections Reference is hereby made.

of the Board of Supervisors of the County of Sonoma last theretofore estakrlishing elec-
tion precincts within the City for holding general State and County Elections, Said
municipal election ,precincts, the territory embraced within each thereof, the polling
place or places therein, and the election officers appointed to conduct said election
therein are hereby fixed; established and appointed as set forth in this resolution.
Section. 6. The ballots to be used at said Consolidated Regular Municipal
Election shall be substantially the following form:

Appropriate space shall be provided''on said ballot for any additional measures
submitted, at said regular elections The City Clerk shall mail sample ballots, together
with cards stating the location of the precinct polling place of each voter entitled to
vote at said election at the time and in die manner prodided•by Elections Code Section
3711,
Section 7, The City Clerk is hereby directed to cause Notice of Election
to be published once in the Petaluma Argus-Courier, as daily newspaper of general cir-
culation published in the City of Petaluma, and the official newspaper of said City, such
publication to be made not earlier than the Seventy-fifth (75th) nor later than the fifty-
fourth (54th) day prior to said election, and shall contain the information and be in the
form provided for under Sections 9750 and 9751 of the Election Code,
Section 8, All persons qualified to vote at said municipal election on the
date of said election shall be. . qualified to vote for the candidates for all of the offices
to be filled and also upon any measure submitted at said election, provided that no
person shall be entitled to Vote-for any candidate for theroffice of School Director who
is not also a qualified elector. of Petaluma School Districts,. Any qualified elector, of
Petaluma School Districts who is not also a qualified elector in the City of Petaluma
shall be entitled to vote at said election solely for candidates for the office of School
Director of said Petaluma School Districts,
Section 9, There shall be twenty-five (25) voting precincts for the purpose
of holding said election, consisting,of either the regular election precincts established
for holding State or County 'elections as numbered and ,established of record by orders
or resolutions of the Board of Supervisors of Sonoma County last theretofore establish-

ing precincts within the City of Petaluma for holding general State and County elections
now on file in the office of the County Clerk of said county, or a consolidation, of some
or all of such precincts as hereinafter set forth, and said precincts shall be as follows:
That precincts Nos. 1, 2 and 26, as laid down and designated by the Board of
Supervisors of Sonoma County, are hereby consolidated and shall,be known and desig-
nated at said election as'Petaluma Consolidated Precinct No. 10

That precincts Nos. 27, 31, 35 and 35-A, as laid down and designated by

known and designated at said election as Petaluma Consolidated Precinct No. 2,

nated at said election as Petaluma_Consolidated Precinct No. 3.
That precincts Nos. 24 and 29, as laid down and designated by the Board of
Supervisors of Sonoma County; are hereby consolidated and shall be known and desig-
nated at said election as Petaluma Consolidated Precinct No. 4,
That precincts Nos. 3 and. 4, as laid down and designated by the Board of
Supervisors of Sonoma County, are hereby consolidated and shall be known and desig -
nated at said election as Petaluma Consolidated Precinct No. 5.
That precincts Nos. 23 and 25, as laid down and designated by the Board of
Supervisors of Sonoma County, are hereby consolidated and shall be known and desig-
nated at said election as Petaluma Consolidated Precinct No. 6,
That precincts Nos, 7 and 16, as laid down and designated,by the Board of
Supervisors of Sonoma County, are hereby consolidated and shall be known and desig-
nated at said election as Petaluma Consolidated Precinct No. 7.
That precincts Nos, 6 and 8, as laid down and designated by the Board of
Supervisors of Sonoma County, are hereby consolidated and shall be known and desig-
nated at said election as Petaluma Consolidated Precinct No,. 8.
That precincts Nos. 5 and 9, as laid down and designated by the Board of
Supervisors of Sonoma County, are hereby consolidated and shall be known and desig-
nated at said election as Petaluma Consolidated Precinct No. 9.
That precincts Nos. 10, 21 and 28, as laid down and designated by the Board
of Supervisors of Sonoma County, are hereby consolidated and shall be known and
designated at said election as'Petaluma.Consolidated Precinct No. 10.
That precincts Nos. H and 13, as laid down and designated by the Board of
Supervisors of Sonoma County, are hereby consolidated and shall be known and desig-
nated at said election as Petaluma.Consolidated Precinct Noe 11,

That precincts Nos. 14 and 20, as laid down and designated by the Board of
Supervisors of Sonoma County, are hereby consolidated and shall be known and desig-
nated at said election as Petaluma Consolidated Precinct No. 12.
That precincts Nos. 12 and 22, as laid down and designated by the Board of
Supervisors of Sonoma County,. are hereby consolidated and shall be known and desig-
nated at said election as Petaluma Consolidated Precinct No. 13.
That precincts Nos. 15, 19 and 32, as laid down and designated by the Board of
Supervisors of Sonoma County, are hereby consolidated and shall be known and desig-
nated at said election as Petaluma Consolidated Precinct No. 14.
That precincts Nos. 17 and 18, as laid down and designated by the Board of
Supervisors of Sonoma County, are hereby consolidated and shall be known and desig-
nated at said election as Petaluma Consolidated Precinct No. 15.
That precinct No. 30, as laid down and designated by the Board of Supervisors
of Sonoma County, shall be known and,designated at said election as 'Petaluma Con-
solidated Precinct No. 16.
That the area located within the boundaries of the W,ilmar School District and
those portions of Union Joint School District and Laguna Joint School District that lie
in Sonoma County, is hereby consolidated and shall:be-known and designated at said
election as Petaluma Consolidated School District Precinct No. 17.
That the area located within the boundaries of the Two Rock Union School
District is hereby consolidated and shall be known and designated at said election as
Petaluma Consolidated School District Precinct No. 18.
That the area located within the boundaries of the Cinnabar School District,
Liberty School District is hereby consolidated and ;shall be known and designated at
said election as Petaluma Consolidated School District,PrecinctNo. 19.
That the area located within the boundaries of the Old Adobe Union School
District is hereby consolidated and shall be known and designated at said election
at Petaluma Consolidated School District Precinct No 20.

That the area located within the boundaries-of the Lakeville School District
is hereby consolidated and shall be known and designated at Said election as Petaluma
Consolidated School District Precinct No. 21,
That the area located within the boundaries of the Penngrove School District
and the Waugh School District is hereby consolidated and shall be known and designated
at said election as Petaluma Consolidated School District Precinct No. 22,
That the area located within the boundaries of the Cota.ti. School District and the
Dunham School District is hereby consolidated and shall be known and designated at
said election as Petaluma Consolidated School District No. 23,
That the area located,within the boundaries of those portions of the General
Election Precincts of Magnolia, Marin East, Marin West, Wilson North, Wilson South
and Chileno that lie within the Petaluma City (Elementary) School District, is hereby
consolidated and shall be known,and designated at said election as Petaluma Consoli-
dated School District Precinct No. 24.
That the area located within the boundaries of those portions of Burdell School
District, Union Joint School District, Laguna Joint School District and Lincoln School
District that lie in Marin County and the Petaluma .City High School District, is hereby
consolidated and shall,be, known and.de"signated at said election as Petaluma Consoli-
dated School District Precinct No 25,
Section 10. That the polling places selected for the various consolidated
precincts and the officers hereby appointed to serve as election officers in said con-
solidated precincts, are hereby determined and designated'as follows:

Section 11, The City Clerk is hereby directed to arrange for the necessary
voting booths and see that they are properly erected in each of the polling places here-
inbefore specified. Said City Clerk shall have the necessary ballots printed and pro-
cure ballot boxes, stamps, ink pads, affidavits of registration and index thereto, tally
lists, returns, envelopes and all other necesary supplies, and see that they are pro-
perly distributed to each voting booth prior to the opening of the polls on the date of
said election. The compensation of the election officers hereby appointed, and each
thereof, for their respective services, and in full thereof is hereby fixed as follows:
For Inspectors, the sum of $12. 00 each
For Judges and Clerks, the sum of $10. 00. each.
Section 12, The returns of said Consolidated Regular Municipal Election shall
be made out and signed by the election officers and shall be by them deposited with the
City Clerk together with the ballots cast at said election, and the Council shall meet
at its usual meeting place and canvass the returns of election on Monday, June 19, 1961,
(being the first regular meeting following said election) at the hour of 7:.30 o'clock p. m. ,
and declare the result of said election; provided that if all of the returns of said election
are not in or said canvass is not,: for any reason, completed on said date, the Council
may 'adjourn until Tuesday, June 20, 1961, at the hour of 7: 30 o'clock p. me. for the pur-
pose of completing said canvass and declaring the result of said election.
Section 13, This resolution, being a resolution calling and providing for an
election, shall take effect immediately upon its final passage and adoption,
