HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2003-056 N.C.S. 03/17/2003resolution No. 2003-056 N.C.S. of the City of Petaluma, California RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF FUNDING BY THE COASTAL CONSERVANCY OF THE GRANT APPLICATION BY THE BAY AREA RIDGE TRAIL COUNCIL FOR DEVELOPMENT OF A CONNECTING TRAIL ON THE MCNEAR PENINSULA PHASE I PROJECT WHEREAS, Petaluma is a special place to live and work, with its beautiful valley and surrounding ridgelines; and, WHEREAS, the Bay Area Ridge Trail has been endorsed by the City of Petaluma since 1990; and, WHEREAS, Petaluma dedicated a 5.5 mile segment of the Bay Area Ridge Trail in October 1995; and, WHEREAS, Petaluma adopted the Petaluma River Access and Enhancement Plan in 1996; and, WHEREAS, the Bay Area Ridge Trail Council has been working cooperatively with the California Coastal Conservancy and the City of Petaluma in creating a new segment of the Bay Area Ridge Trail within. the City of Petaluma; and, WHEREAS, the new segment of the Bay Area Ridge Trail will offer a safer, off-street connection for trail users with. views of the McNear Channel, Petaluma River, and surrounding ridgelines; and, WHEREAS, the grant will provide $120,000 for the design, administration, and construction of this project Resolution No. 2003-056 N.C.S. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Petaluma hereby: 1. Supports the application of funding by the Bay Area Ridge Trail Council on behalf of the City of Petaluma from the California Coastal Conservancy in the amount of $120,000. 2. Certifies that the Applicant has or will have sufficient funds to operate and maintain the Project; and, 3. Appoints the City Manager, or his assigned representative, as agent to conduct all negotiations, execute and submit all documents including, but not limited to, applications, agreements, payment requests and so on, which may be necessary for the completion of the project. Under the power and authority conferred upon this Council by the Charter of said City.
