HomeMy WebLinkAboutProclamation 04/07/2014 (3) x � 4LiN14 is Cttp of ill a ttIta roctamation NATIONAL LIBRARY WEEK-APRIL 13-19,2014 WHEREAS, libraries help lives change in their communities, campuses and schools; and WHEREAS, libraries and librarians work to meet the changing needs of their communities by bringing together community members to enrich and shape people's lives and address local issues; and WHEREAS, librarians are trained,tech-savvy professionals who provide technology training and access to downloadable content like e-books, and offer programs such as resume writing classes, financial planning services, and help with homework; and WHEREAS, libraries continuously grow and evolve in how they provide for the needs of their communities by helping residents learn, grow and achieve their dreams, and urge all residents to show their support to the Declaration For The Right To Libraries: Libraries Empower The Individual Libraries Support Literacy And Lifelong Learning Libraries Strengthen Families Libraries Are The Great Equalizer Libraries Build Communities Libraries Protect Our Right To Know Libraries Strengthen Our Nation Libraries Advance Research And Scholarship Libraries Help Us To Better Understand Each Other Libraries Preserve Our Nation's Cultural Heritage NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED THAT I, David Glass, Mayor of Petaluma, along with the members of the Petaluma City Council, do hereby proclaim April 13-19, 2014 as National Library Week and encourage all residents to visit the library during this week to take advantage of the wonderful library resources available. • TIDacia' 9V€444, /14 yar #
