RESOLUTION A~ME~NDING CLASSIFICATION PLAN TO ESTABLISH A
NEW POSITION CLASSIFICATTON OF .POLICE CAPTAIN AND
DE'SIGNATING ~IT TO U;NiT 9(~MID MAN.AGEMENT )
BE IT RESOLVED that the Classification P.lan and Compensation
Plan as originally adopted pursuant to Resolution No . 85-269 N. C. S., and
the classification titles and specifications as adgpted by Resolution No. 7054
N. C. S. , are hereby amended by establishing a classification of Police
Captain, (as attached hereto and marked. Exh.ibit "A" , and made a part
hereof ), the salary range to be $2 , 900 -$3 , 625 per month
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this. aetion is taken pursuant to
Personnel Code 2.04.020 and Personnel Rules and R,egulations (Rule IV,
Section 5) for classifications included in the Competitive Service of the
Personnel System, that 'the notice of this action.. has been properly posted
and that the City Manager recommends this action.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Resolution No. 7054
N.C.S., as amended., is hereby amended to include establishment of the
classification of Police 'Captain and assigning this classification to Unit 9
(Mid Management) , effective January 1, 1986.
Under the power and,authority conferred upon this Council by 'the Gharter of said City.

Employment Standards ~
Education and Experiemce: BA in Polic.e S'cience or re`lated area (MA
preferred)i and tent years , of reguiar full-time California law enforcement
experience with full police~ powers,. Three year.s exper-ience rnust have been.
at .the' supervisory level of Lieutenant. Must possess an~ Advarnced POST'
Gerti=ficate "and have completed the ,POST Middle Mariagement Course:.
