HomeMy WebLinkAboutProclamation 5/5/2014 (2) 'tss x eitp of ill etatuma rottamatton ERIKA MIHALCA, CASA GRANDE HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR WITH MINUTEMAN WRESTLING OF PETAL UMA WHEREAS, in 2014, with the Minuteman Wrestling Club of Petaluma, Casa Grande's Erika Mihalca achieved the most successful wrestling season in the history of Petaluma by winning the North Bay League Championship, the North Coast Section Championship,placing second in CIF State Championship, winning the USA Wrestling State Championship,and fmishing fourth in the National Championships in Oklahoma City, only losing to one opponent from Michigan while defeating State Champions from Illinois and Texas; and WHEREAS, overall, Erika Mihalca was 42-5 for the season, with 35 pins for wins coming over nine tournaments leading to the state championship and eventual National Championships, earning Mihalca All American honors; and WHEREAS,Mihalca was the 2014 North Bay League Champion, 2014 North Coast Section Finalist(four years in a row), and two time section Champion,runner up in CIF and the State Champion before qualifying for the National Tournament,placing in all nine tournaments and winning first place in six; and WHEREAS, her dream wrestling season became even sweeter with the announcement of All American honors at the weight of 139 pounds, and the invitations to attend college by six Division One schools. NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT I, David Glass, Mayor of Petaluma, along with the members of the City Council, do hereby congratulate Erika Mihalca of Casa Grande High School and The Minuteman Wrestling Club of Petaluma on achieving the most successful wrestling season in the history of Petaluma, and wish her well in all her future 4 endeavors. -e. wa OWL, ..-.
