HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2002-154 N.C.S. 09/17/2002resolution No. 2002-154 N.C.S. of the City of Petaluma, California AUTHORIZING THE USE OF STATE PARK BOND (PROPOSITION 40) FUNDS TO BE USED FOR IDENTIFIED DEFERRED MAINTENANCE PROJECTS WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Department has a large number of deferred maintenance projects which have not been funded over the years due to a shortage of maintenance funding; and, WHEREAS, the General Fund as a source of maintenance funding has not been consistent due to uncertain economic times; and, WI-IEREAS, the voters of the State of California have recently approved Park Bond Proposition 40, and the City of Petaluma will receive Per Capita Funds once criteria are identified by the State Office of Parks and Recreation; and, WHEREAS, the Recreation, Music, and Parks Commission, in order to correct deferred maintenance problems in the park system, have identified fifteen (15) deferred projects that could be completed using the Park Bond Per Capita Funds; and, WHEREAS, the Recreation, Music, and Parks Commission is recommending that Per Capita Funds from the recently approved State Park Bond (Proposition 40) be used for identified maintenance projects. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Petaluma does hereby authorize the use of State Park Bond Per Capita Funds from Proposition 40 for identified projects as recommended by the Recreation, Music, and Parks Commission. Under the power and authority conferred upon this Council by the Charter of said City.
