HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2014-103 N.C.S. 7/7/2014Resolution No. 2014-103 N.C.S. of the City of Petaluma, California REJECTING ALL BIDS FOR THE EAST WASHINGTON STREET AND EDITH STREET LIGHTED CROSSWALKS PROJECT WHEREAS, city staff has prepared construction bid documents and advertised for construction of the East Washington and Edith Street Lighted Crosswalks, Project Number C16101308; and, WHEREAS, in accordance with the City of Petaluma Charter and Municipal Code, California Public Contract Code Section 20162 and other applicable law, City staff solicited bids for the Project; and, WHEREAS, the project was bid on April 21, 2014, and two (2) bids were received and opened on May 28, 2014 in accordance with applicable law; and, WHEREAS, All bids received for the project exceeded the budgeted amounts; and WHEREAS, staff has detennined that cost for asphalt, site concrete and ADA ramps exceeds current market costs for construction; and. WHEREAS, staff believes that by reclassifying the required contractors' license and reducing trait quantity allowances for concrete, construction bid costs will be reduced. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City hereby: 1. Rejects all bids for the East Washington and Edith Lighted Crosswalks Project. 2. Directs staff to modify the plans and specifications, and rebid the project.
