Wf-III~FAS, the owner of the Farrell House has requested a variance
fr~n the off-street parking requirements as originally required by the
Planning Comnission in the site design approval of the Farrell House;
and,
~EAS, the City Cotmcil was not unmindful of the historic
significance of the building and is desirous of irr~roving and enhancing
the properties along the Petalwr~a River, especially in the area of the
turning basin; and,
WI~QZEAS, it is the intent of this Council, through the City
Redevelo~xnent Agency, to work cooperatively with the private property
owners to irr~rove the redevelo~xnent proj ect area along the Petaltuna
River,
NCT~V, T~E BE IT RE.SOLVFD that the appeal of the Planning
Comnission action of July 13, 1982 denying the Farrell House variance
request to waive 3'4 required parking spaces is hereby denied;
BE IT ~ RE~E50LU~ that the time for compliance with the
requirement for 34 parking spaces is hereby extended until no later than
March 7, 1983. During that period, the Owizers of the Farrell House and
the City of Petaltm~a will endeavor, in a cooperative mariner, to reach a
permanent solution to the parking problems within the vicinity of the
Farrell House. Matters to be considered during the interim period

regarding parking requirements are as follows:
l. Modification to the City's Zoning Ordinance to make
less restrictive the variance findings that are now required.
2. Explora.t:ion of long term leasing of property for parking
in the imnediate area.
3. Review present parking requir~nents within the
redevelopment~project area. , ,
4. Any combination of the above.
