HomeMy WebLinkAboutProclamation 10/20/2014) x Ni4)1ress:0000001( —uumpompr- __ ettp of ' 1etatuin a 4 Irottarnation NATIONAL MASSAGE THERAPY AWARENESS WEEK-OCTOBER 21-27,2014 WHEREAS, massage therapy is beneficial to overall health and is increasingly part of integrated health care; and WHEREAS, consumers are spending $8 to $10 billion annually on massage therapy and more insurance companies are covering it; and WHEREAS, therapeutic massage can benefit people of all ages; and WHEREAS, a growing body of clinical research shows massage therapy is beneficial for a wide variety of health issues, including stress, high blood pressure, fibromyalgia, arthritis, back pain, muscles injury and soreness, headaches and just maintaining good health; and WHEREAS, the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA), a 56,000-member professional association for massage therapists, provides consumer and professional education information on massage and helps consumers and health professionals locate qualified massage therapists in their area.
