October Ig. 61._ l 'lll..' hd 6// trX did`// WHEREAS, the Greater Petaluma Area,Chamber of Commerce has, by recent letter, advised certain:freight forwarders and other transportation companies that this City suffers arbitrary rates on shipments from the East and the South and such rates are discriminatory in that other Cities in the surrounding area receive more favorable treatment, and WHEREAS,, the discriminatory rates as charged affect retail sales in this City in that the additional charges paid by the:merch'ants of this City create a less favorable competitive situation, NOW, THEREF,ORE, BE IT RESOLVED that this City Council protests the unfavorable rate situation existing in the City of Petalurha and requests the transportation concerns to immediately take steps to adjust the matter so that local freight rates will be in the same-category as those of surrounding Cities. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED the Greater Petaluma Area Chamber of Commerce be-furnished with certified copies of this resolution for forwarding to the transportation;' companies concerned. under the power and authority conferred upon this Council by the Charter of said City.
