RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK
TO ENTER INTO AND EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH ALFRED
J. ROBERTS FOR THE SERVICES OF ALFRED J. ROBERTS
AS AN INTERIM CITY ENGINEER UNTIL SUCH TIME A'S THE
POSITION OF CITY ENGINEER IS FILLED BY A QUALIFIED
REGISTER:ED CIVIL ENGINEER,
INTRODUCED BY COUNCILMAN jr���} and
SECONDED BY COUNCILMAN at a
Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Petaluma on the Incl day
of Jan-na.ry , 1962,
WHEREAS, Alfred J. Roberts has resigned his position as City
Engineer to take a position with the City of'Pacifica, and
WHEREAS, the Department of Public 'Works does not have in'the
department a civil engineer registered under the laws of the State of California„ and
WHEREAS, •Division 3, Chapter 7, of the Business and Professions
Code of the State of California prohibits the practice of civil engineering without
being registered, as provided thereurder, and this City has in progress or under
contemplation certain projects=which require that a registered civil engineer be
responsible for and have the said projects under his supervision,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT'RESOLVED that the Mayor and City
Clerk are hereby authorized to. enter into and execute a contract appointing
Alfred J. Roberts as the Interim City Engineer until such time as the City of
Petaluma has employed a, qualified registered civil engineer. The said contract
to be under the following; terrns and conditions:
1e Alfred J. Roberts to perform all services requiring a
registered civil engineer for the City of Petaluma, as
needed, until such time as the new City Engineer is
employed and has assumed the responsibility cif the
position of City Engineer,

2; Alfred J. Roberts to lend his assistance to the new
City Engineer in aiding him in becoming familiar with
the problems of the Department of Public. Works for a
reasonable time,
3. Alfred J. Roberts to receive; as compensation for his
services, the sum of Sixty and no/100 (!S60.00) 11o11ars
per day, plus his out of pocket costs for his time and
efforts actually expended upon City of Petaluma
engineering matters.
I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was duly
and regularly introduced and adopted by the Council of
the City of Petaluma, on the, 2ndday of January
1962, by the following vote.
