HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2010-123 N.C.S. 07/12/2010Resolution No. 2010-123 N.C.S. of the City of Petaluma, California AU'f'~IORIZING STAFF TO APPI,Y F0~2 CYC'L~ 9 S'TA'TE SAFE ROiJT~S 'Y'O SCHOOL PROGRANY FOdt VARIOLIS YN-PAVEIVIENT LIGH'~'ED CROSSWALK IIVIPI20VE1VIENTS WIIEI2~AS, the Cycle 9 State Safe Routes to School Program (SR2S) provides funds for reducing injuries and fatalities through capital projects that improve safety for children in grades K-12 who walk or bicycle to school; and, W~I~REAS, the California State Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has been delegated the responsibility for administration of the program; and, W~IEREAS, staff has identified and recommended five in-pavement lighted crosswalk improvements as the grant project; and, WH~ItEAS, if selected, the City of Petaluma wiIl enter into an agreement with the State of California to complete the project; and, WHER~AS, the Department of Public Works, Street Maintenance Operating Budget has sufficient funds for the required ten percent match, and for all other costs not eligible for reimbursement. NOW, '~'HEREFORE, BE I~ RESOI.V~D that the Petaluma City Council hereby: Authorizes staff to apply for the Cycle 9 State Safe Routes to School Program for Various In-Pavement Lighted Crosswalk Improvements. Under the power and authority conferred upon this Council by the Charter of said City.
