HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2008-069 N.C.S. 04/21/2008Resolution No. 2008-069 N.C.S. of the City of Petaluma, California RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT APPLICATION TO SONOMA COUNTY AGRICULTURAL PRESERVATION AND OPEN SPACE DISTRICT (SCAPOSD) 2008 MATCHING GRANTS PROGRAM FOR CONTINUED FUNDING OF EAST WASHINGTON PARK DEVELOPMENT; RESUBMIT APPLICATION FOR PAULA LANE LAND ACQUISITION; AND SUBMIT APPLICATION FOK LA CRESTA RIDGE AND RAVINE LAND ACQUISITION WHEREAS, the Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District (SCAPOSD) has announced a competitive program and availability of matching funds for grants in the area of land acquisition for open space preservation and recreation opportunities; and WHEREAS, said grants are intended to help preserve irreplaceable open space lands in perpetuity in a way that provides environmental enhancement and site improvements which facilitate initial opening oflands for public access or recreational use; and WHEREAS, the City of Petaluma has concluded that the development of the East Washington ball fields, land acquisitions of Paula Lane and La Cresta Ridge and Ravine would be of significant community- and regional-wide benefit within an environmentally beneficial setting. N®W, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Petaluma hereby authorizes City Manager to submit application to the Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District (SCAPOSD) for 2008 matching grant funding of improvements to East Washington Park. If the grant is awarded the City Manager is authorized to receive the grant, and to execute the Grant Agreement. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Petaluma hereby authorizes City Manager to submit applications to the Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District (SCAPOSD) for 2008 matching grant funding for land acquisitions of Paula Lane and La Cresta Ridge and Ravine. Page 1 NOW., THEREFORE, BE IT FURTI~IER RESOLVED that prior to execution of the Grant Agreements, if any, the Maintenance Agreements shall be executed, and the joint applicants shall demonstrate that these projects will be at no cost to the City in perpetuity.
