PETALUMA COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION
APPROVING THE PROVISION FOR TWO-WAY TRAFFIC ON KELLER STREET,
BETWEEN WASHINGTON STREET AND THE KELLER STREET PARKING GARAGE
WHEREAS, Keller Street, from the Keller Street parking garage to Washington Street, is
currently aone-way roadway with both parallel and angle parking; and,
WHEREAS, two-way traffic along Keller Street is provided along the remaining portion of
this block and on adjacent block segments; and,
WHEREAS, this particular circulation pattern is limiting to the downtown street system as a
whole; and,
WHEREAS, vehicles traveling along 5'" Street to Keller Street must also divert their path and
recirculate to exit the Downtown core area; and,
WHEREAS, it is proposed that Keller Street be returned to a two=way street to relieve this
adverse impact on the downtown street system; and,
WHEREAS, the resulting roadway section would include one travel lane in each direction
and parallel parking on both sides of the street; and,
WHEREAS, traffic movements exiting Keller Street at Washington Street would be limited to
right-turn only; and,
WHEREAS, the City Traffic Division Manager, City Engineer, and City Consultant Traffic
Engineer fully support the implementation of this proposed two-way traffic flow plan to improve
downtown circulation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Petaluma hereby:
Approves the proposed Keller Street two-way traffic flow.

2. Directs staff to prepare the final design and implement the plan.
