HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2001-192 N.C.S. 11/05/2001 1 Resolution No. 2001-192 N.C.S. 2 of the City of Petaluma, California 3 4 5 AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OF THE CITY OF PETALUMA TO SIGN 6 THE CALIFORNIA URBAN WATER CONSERVATION COUNCIL'S 7 MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING 8 REGARDING URBAN WATER CONSERVATION IN CALIFORNIA 9 10 WIFIEREAS, the California Urban Water Conservation Council's Memorandum of 11 Understanding (MOU) Regarding Urban Water Conservation in California defines proven water 12 conservation measures that realize sustainable reduction in water use; and 13 14 WHEREAS, the City of Petaluma recognizes that. water is an essential and limited resource; and 15 16 WHEREAS, the MOLT has been in effect since 1991 and now has 264 signatories; and 17 18 WHEREAS, more than half the population of the State of California is served by water 19 purveyors that are signatory to the MOU; and 20 21 WHEREAS, the City of Petalmna's water conservation program has consistently pursued sound 22 water conservation measures that provide sustainable reduction in water use and improved water 23 efficiency, and 24 25 WHEREAS, the City of Petaluma signed the Memorandum of Understanding Regarding Water 26 Transmission System Capacity Allocation During Temporary Impairment wherein Section 6(a) 27 requires the City of Petaluma to sign the Califonua Urban Water Conservation Council's MOU 28 within six months of the date of that signing. 29 30 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Petaluma authorizes 31 the City Manager of the City of Petaluma to sign the California Urban Water Conservation 32 Council's Memorandum of Understanding Regarding Urban Water Conservation in California. 3 5 4 41 42 Under the power and. authority conferred upon this Council by the Charter of said City. 43 REFERENCE: I hereby certify the foregoing Resolution was introduced and adopted by the Approved as to 44 Council of the City of Petaluma at a Regular meeting on November 5, 2001, 45 by the following vote: 46 City ttorney 47 AYES: O'Brien, Healy, Torliatt, Maguire, Moynihan, Vice Mayor Cader-Thompson, Mayor Thompson 48 NOES: None 49 ABSENT: None 50 51 ATTEST: 52 City Clerk Mayor ~14A~fm C ~I~~}'r
