AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 6.36.,400 OF CHAPTER 6.36
OF THE P'ET-ALUMA MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO PEDDLERS
(MISCELLANEOUS" BUSINESSES AND PROFESSIONS)
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PETALUMA AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 6.36.400 of Chapter 6.36 of the Petaluma Municipal
Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
"6.36.400 Peddlers
Every peddler shall pay a license fee of One Hundred Dollars
($100.00) per year for himself and the same amount for each
assistant:
For purposes of this section, the word "Peddler" shall
mean any person engaged in the b.usiness of peddling, offering
for sale, goods:, wares or merchandise, either by going from
place to pla~ce with such property for the purpose of selling
or offering the same for sale in or along any street, upon
or along any sidewalk or parkway, or in any doorway or
entranee way of any building, or upon any unenclosed lot
or parceT of land.
Peddler .shall also mean any person who intends to stand
on any street, or park any lunch wagon, eating cart or vehicle,
or pushcart, from which tamales, peariuts, popeorn, candy,
. ice cream, or other articles of food are sold or offered for
sa'le.. Such ;a peddler shall obtain a written permit from the
Gity F.inance Director which shall designate the specific
location from whieh such wagori, eating cart, or vehicle
shall stand. The Finance Director may consult with the
City Traffic Erigineer to determine safe locations in which
such luneh wagon, eating car"t, vehicle or pushcart may be
pa~rked, or in which~ peddlers ma.y stand.
The word "peddler" shall not iriclude nonresident

veterans who satisfy the requirements of Business and
Professions; Code„ Sectiori 16001, or apply to the persons
described in. and -~who comply with Section 6.36.Z80.
No license' sha1P be issued to ariy p.eddler until the
applicant, shall .have procured a permit as required by
Chapter 6.3`2,' .
The license fee reguired under this article for peddlers
shall be ,in addition to any license fee payable for any other
business conducfed by the appl'icant for the license. "
Section 2, Severability. . The City Council her,eby declares that it
would have passed this ordinance sentence by sentence, paragraph by
paragraph, and section by section. If for any reason any sentence,
paragraph, or section of this ordinance shall be held invalid or
unconstitutional, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining
parts of this ordinance.
Section 3. The City Clerk be, and she is hereby directed to
post/~~l~~M this ordinarice for the period and in the manner required by
the Gity Charter.
