Introduced by Councilman James H'arberson OCT 2 5 1932 Seconded by Vice Mayor William Perry AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 1072 N.C.S. BY AMENDING SECTION 21-408.24 TO PERMIT USE OF COVERED. OR OPEN PARKING FOR ACCESSORY DWELLING,S', AMENDING SECTION 20-403 (1) TO PERMIT USE OF TEN -FOOT DRIVES FOR TWO OR FEWER UNITS AND ADDING SECTION 20-411 TO SPECIFY THE MAXIMUM GRADIENT OF DRIVES AS .18 0 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PETALUR AS FOLLCWS: Section 1. Article 21, Section 21-408-24 of the Zoning Ordinance No. 1072 N.C.S. i,s'hereby amended to read as follows: 1121-408.24 Has available one covered.or open off- street parking space per bedroom or other room suitable for sleeping purposes in addition to off-street parking required for the existing unit." Section 2. Article 20, Section 20-403 (1) of the Zoning Ordinance No. 1072 N.C.S. is hereby amended to read as follows: 1120-403 (1) Drives furnishing access to parking facilities serving from three (3) to ten '(10) dwellingunits shall be not less than .twe.lve (12) feet in width and drives serving two (2) or fewer dwelling units shall be not less than ten (10) feet in width. !' Article 20, Section 20-411 is hereby added to Zoning Ordinance No. 1072 N.C.S. to read as follows: 1120-41.1 Driveway Gradients The maximum gradient for an aisle or drive connecting off-street parking-space(s) with the public right-of-way shall not exceed 15(fifteen) percent except in hilly areas where maximLm gradient shall not exceed 18 (eighteen) percent and the max'imim change in ,gradient of, any such aisle or drive shall not exceed 12 (twelve) percent rise or eight (8) percent decline in any 30 (thirty) linear feet." Section. 4. The City Council hereby finds that the above zoning ordinance amendments result in minor altera.t,ions to the land use limitations of the City of Petaluma and therefore are exempt from the provisions of the.Cali.fornia Environmental Quality Act (Section 15105 of the CBQA Guidelines`). Section 5. The City Council hereby finds that the proposed amendments are in general conformity with the Petaluam General Plan and any :appl icabl'e Environmental Des"ign Plan, and further, that the publ is health, safety' 'and general welfare will be furthered by the proposed amendments.
