During`the,~dry weather season this pump station operates at full-:capacity to deliver recycled water to the agricultural users. The pump station comprises .four 75-hp pumps;, two of which are controlled by variable frequency drives "' (VFDs) a surge tank, instrumentation, and motor control centers. ~ The existing electrical equipment -and control systems of the pump station have been operating for almost 30 years and are in need of upgrade to' prevent system:failure. The project was origina'lly'bd in Eebruary201.0. City.Councl awarded the construction contract to the low bidder on Apri17, 2010; and on June 7, 20,10, the contract was terminated after it becarrie apparent that',:;the~ low bidder would not be able to meet project deadlines in time for the start ~of the-recycled`~water irrigation season.
